How’s your stalk? – I’d hate to think about growing corn without this critically important plant tissue. As we know, the stalk of corn provides stability and strength in holding up the ear and maintaining an upright growth habit. Another critical function, of the stalk, is that it is an important storage site for carbohydrates (sugars) produced during photosynthesis.
